Welcome from the Online Photo Filer team!
My name is Mike and I am the lead developer here at GoDaddy.com (R) for the Online Photo Filer product. I have worked on many products here at GoDaddy.com (R) since I started in 2003, including Express Email Marketing (R), Traffic Blazer (R), Website Tonight (R), Quick Blog, Quick Podcast, and Online Photo Filer.
It has been a joy to help design and build our entry into the online photo management world. One of my goals when starting this project was to build something that my family could use to set up and view photo albums with ease. We have put together a lot of nice features in our initial releases including the ability for our customers and their visitors to develop photos and have them delivered to their door.
As we go into the future we have many great plans for our product. We will be continually offering more photo products for purchase as well as additional editing and sharing features. I encourage all our customers to provide us feedback on how we can make Online Photo Filer easier to use, or what features would help you manage and enjoy your photos the most.

Hi Mike,
First time using a Blog - so may be committing a cardinal sin . . .perhaps this should be sent as FAQ?
Could you explain the "Bandwidth" usage that is tracked within the Photo Filer Product?

Hi Jim
Welcome to the blog. Its a good forum to share these little tid-bits of information.
To answer your question, bandwidth is a monthly calculation of traffic from your public site. Its the total amount of data transferred from people viewing your site including images, html, and stylesheets (much like using kb on a data plan on a cell phone). Note that when you are logged in and uploading photos and maintaining your site you are not consuming bandwidth, its only the people viewing your site that use it.
All the best,
Rob

I was wondering if it is possible to set up the various prices for our photos.
For example, Godaddy sells a print for 0.19$, would I be able to set the price at 1.00$ and give Godaddy the 0.19$
I'm starting TAFIESTA.com and it is a business that caters to events and parties; taking pictures and offering the prints to partygoers. I would love to be able to work through Godaddy's Photo Filer for this new website.
Thanks for the reply and keep up the great work.

Hi Sebastian
Thanks for the enquiry. At this point we do not have a mechanism to allow the site owner to set their own pricing over and above the pricing that we have in there (that covers our 3rd party vendor that does the printing and mailing out of the photos) and its not on the immediate roadmap to extend the photostore in that manner.
You may be interested in looking at our Quick Shopping Cart product (click here for more info). It is our eCommerce product and you can tie it to the Online Photo Filer galleries in a variety of ways with url links, inserting photo badges etc. Take a look and see what you think.
Thanks for the contribution and good luck with your endeavors.

It would be useful to have the java script code for adding PhotoFiler slideshows to a web page - similar to the way the code is provided for Badges. I am using GoDaddy's Website Tonight product and like the way it can link directly to PhotoFiler. Right now I use the permanent link for the slide show, which sends the user over to PhotoFiler, but I would like to be able to embed it right on the web site page and use my PhotoFiler bandwidth to do it. Also, is there a way to get the flash version badge in a larger size? That's a slideshow in itself.

Hi Marianne
That is a good comment about being able to embed the slideshow into a webpage and we will look into it for a future release.
As for the flash badge, it is size limited right now. Providing different size options is an interesting idea and we will look into it further.
Thanks for the contribution,

How exactly is Marianne able to embed a Photo Filer slideshow into the WST website? I tried "Tables & Object" then insert Object, then Flash, then copied the perm link to the slideshow... only a little white box (100x100) appears. What am I doing wrong?
The whole reason I got the Online photo filer was to have photography slide shows on my web site. Please improve this feature and make the badges larger.
Thanks, Tracy

Tracy,
Thanks for the question. Here's the good news we are indeed doing this and if you were to check back , oo say tomorrow or the day after I'm pretty confident we have the solution you're looking for. Hence the reason I'm not going into the way to create it for WST today since the shelf life of this information would be rather short.

2 questions, can you add a link that would send an email back to the owner of the site and can I burn a copy of the galleys to a CD?
Reply to this
Greetings Dave,
Thanks for the suggestions. On the first item are you wanting a place to
I'm thinking that an "about me" section with the owner's info/contact maybe useful? If not are you looking for the ability to place the mail address in there and have that open up the user's mail client or that we actually provide the form to send message from the gallery?
We're always looking to expand our offerings with regards to the CD galleries it's certainly under consideration.

Can you please provide groups under each gallery? Ex:
I have a gallery called Mowatt Family Photos. Under that, I would like a folder called Neil, April, Annaliese, and Aaron. Under that would be folders broken down again to like Annaliese and then under that broken down by dates.
I hope that makes sense..
Mowatt Family Website -> Neil, April, Annaliese, Aaron -> Annaliese -> 09-09-07 ->
Just create a structure to drill down so that everything is dumped in the root.
Thanks,
Neil

Greetings Neil,
Thanks for taking the time to post on different ways for us to arrange your galleries and your comment does indeed make sense. I'm intending to have sub, or nested, galleries included in a future release of OPF and it's on my list of changes for a future edition.

That's great! As I want to pictures for my parents, my family, my sisters family, and my brothers family.
It would be so chaotic if I just dumped everything into the root. Very hard to get around.
I'd almost pay extra to have that.
Thanks!

I had just finished a mail on this matter regarding an organization like a family tree / pedigree being a useful edition to the program. Timely comment indeed

Is it possible to have a bigger default picture displayed. The pictures are currenly not big enough to enjoy the size and detail of each picture. Currently, the only way to enjoy a larger picture is to click "view full size". I'm hoping that there is a way to change the default size. Please advise.
Thank you!

Greetings,
We do have that planned for another release but presently I'm afraid the default is the only choice within the galleries for display, we do let you choice the size when viewed off site but that's rather less friendly than what we're doing. Thanks for your feedback and look out for future updates.

Is there a way to sort tag names alphabetically? Thanks. Love your product!

Greetings Sheril,
Other than creating them in that order , yes I know that sounds silly, there's not a way to arrange them presently. We will be addressing how the tags work and function in an upcoming release.

Ok, so I installed photofiler. It gave me an additional place to file my photos, which I already had, and therefore did not really need. Now..How do you upload these photos to my website?
Reply to this
Greetings,
Thanks for the question. OPF gives you an online photo album site for sharing photos, it provides some HTML to embed in your website to play photo slide show, or you can create OPF photo badges to include in your website.
Currently, only GoDaddy products, such as Website Tonight, can retrieve OPF photos and galleries directly.
